Welcome

The blogJordan Wiki has been established to provide encyclopedic information on and about the faces, places, flavors and culture that comprise the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

Because the owner/operator of this wiki has been blessed with a second trip back to Jordan by the generous graces of the Jordanian Board of Tourism of North America (JTBNA), this site has been constructed with the following goals in mind:

  • provide the author/owner of this wiki immediate, one-stop access to educational information that is otherwise spread about the web;
  • provide visitors with an enhanced learning of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, encouraging guests to visit this safe and beautiful country;
  • provide businesses with an idea of how safe, educated, and productive enterprises and investments can be in Jordan, especially in the IT sector;

Questions, comments and concerns should be brought to the attention of the author/owner via the contact page at blogJordan.com.

Shukran and God bless!

The Treasury at Petra

Petra (from πέτρα "petra", rock in Greek; Arabic: البتراء, Al-Butrā) is an archaeological site in southwestern Jordan, lying on the slope of Mount Hor in a basin among the mountains which form the eastern flank of Arabah (Wadi Araba), the large valley running from the Dead Sea to the Gulf of Aqaba.

The site was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985 when it was described as "one of the most precious cultural properties of man's cultural heritage." Petra was also declared the "7th New Wonder of the World" by the NewOpenWorld Foundation on 07/07/07
